Windows 10 is nearing end-of-life

Windows 10 was, and still is, a great operating system, but sadly, its time has come. Microsoft will end all support for Windows 10 in October 2025.

What this means: Computers still running Windows 10 will no longer receive any security updates after October 2025. Your computer running Windows 10 will continue to function exactly the same as it has been, but it could be vulnerable to security risks after that date.

What should you do about it. You have three options:

First, you can simply ignore this, and continue using the computer without any on-going security updates, but that is highly discouraged. If a vulnerability in the system is found after that date, it will not be patched. This could open the computer up to attacks from the internet. This may not happen, but I wouldn't recommend risking it.

Second, if your computer supports it, you can upgrade to Windows 11 for free. If your computer was manufactured from about 2018 to present, it may support upgrading to Windows 11. You can check to see if it is compatible by going into the Settings App, then going into Updates and you should see a notification with instructions about upgrading to Windows 11. Alternatively, you can use the free Microsoft PC Health Check App to check compatibility. If you are eligible, you can follow the prompts to install the latest version of Windows 11.

Third, if your computer does not support Windows 11, you can upgrade to a more modern computer. This can seem daunting, but I'm happy to help you with this process. Feel free to reach out and I can provide you with customized options for a new computer, and I can bring it out, get it setup, and migrate your existing data and software to the new computer.
